President-elect Donald Trump has made a series of prominent cabinet appointments, tapping high-profile names from media and tech, as well as loyal allies, to guide his upcoming administration. Among the notable selections is Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest individual, chosen to head the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DGE), a department with a mandate to streamline government spending. Joining him is Vivek Ramaswamy, who will co-lead the department, bringing their entrepreneurial backgrounds to the task of trimming government costs.
In continuation of his relationship with Fox News, Trump nominated Pete Hegseth, a Fox News presenter and former military officer, as Secretary of Defense.
Hegseth’s background includes time in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Guantanamo Bay, but he has limited experience managing an entity as large and complex as the Department of Defense, one of the world’s largest government agencies.

Trump’s choice for CIA Director is John Ratcliffe, a loyalist who previously served as the Director of National Intelligence under Trump’s prior administration. Another familiar face is South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, nominated to lead the Department of Homeland Security.
Although Noem was once considered for Vice President, her relationship with Trump was strained after she revealed an incident involving the shooting of her untrainable pet dog. Her selection signals a possible restoration of trust.
