Born on March 27, 2011, in Samastipur, Bihar, Vaibhav fell in love with cricket at the age of four. His father, Sanjeev Suryavanshi, also played cricket but was not very successful. Sanjeev fed his son’s passion by selling personal items to support his upbringing, which included daily commutes from Samastipur to Patna for classes.
This trip required him to get up at 4:00 a.m. and cover 100 kilometers to practice before 7:30 a.m., where he would train for three to four hours.

His talent at Chennai Shine shone brightly in the youth Test series against Australia in 1999, where he scored 104 runs off just 62 balls. He became the youngest player to score a hundred in youth cricket at the age of 13, surpassing the previous record of current Bangladesh skipper Nazmul Hossain Shanto, in addition to scoring an unbeaten 332 in the Randhir Verma Under-19 tournament that took place in Bihar in his name.
