After Denied Permission to Protest at Jantar Mantar Wangchuk Hunger Strike in Ladakh Bhawan | Why did the Ladakh resident demand old MP and 80 KM space?
Expressed disappointment on not getting permission to protest:
Environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk has started a hunger strike in Ladakh Bhawan after not getting permission to protest at Jantar Mantar from Delhi Police. He has also expressed disappointment. Sonam Wangchuk has shared a written post on X.
“One more rejection, one more disappointment. We received this rejection letter for the officially designated place to protest. If we are not getting permission to protest at Jantar Mantar, kindly inform us of another location. We want to follow all the rules and laws. Still, we are not allowed any place to express our complaint peacefully. It has become so difficult to follow the path of Gandhi in our own country.”
“The Home Ministry will give the time and date to meet the top leaders of India, so we postponed our public meeting at Rajghat because we will demonstrate following the path of Gandhiji from the beginning. We just wanted to return to Ladakh after getting assurances from our leaders.”
Response from Delhi Police : After Denied Permission to Protest at Jantar Mantar Wangchuk Hunger Strike in Ladakh Bhawan
“According to the letter, Delhi Police received short notice of the request to arrange the fast. No specific time information was quoted about the fast. Information should be given at least ten days before holding any demonstration. The demonstration at Jantar Mantar should be between 10 am and 5 pm. But this has not been done. We have been notified immediately, so we cannot permit the demonstration.”
Why did the people of Ladakh demand the old MP and 80 KM of land?
It is not a joke that you people have stolen 80 km of our land covertly. We are demanding that the old Parliament House should be returned to us.
Give it to us, taking from the old one; give it to the South or the North or the East or the West; give us 80 km of substitute place; they will say that if you are ready to give it, then our people can take it; otherwise, we will not donate it. Sir, what will you do with the Parliament, the Parliament, that is our issue; the Parliament, the Parliament House, which is the one that is there;
we need it; we Nat people need it; whatever we have to do, we will do it ourselves; give that old Parliament to them; is it which the ruling government is ready to give?”
