Selena Gomez Hints at Moving On from Music: I Might Be Too Old for the Pop Star Life: In a recent interview with Saoirse Ronan published on December 11, Selena Gomez opened up about the future of her music career. The singer and actress revealed that she might be stepping away from music, saying, “I think my music career is separate; however, I don’t see that always being a forever thing.”
Although Gomez admitted music would always hold a special place in her life, she suggested her professional focus might shift elsewhere. “I think I’ll always have music because my partner is a musician, and I love singing and writing. It’s something I enjoy doing for fun,” she explained. Gomez has been in a relationship with music producer Benny Blanco since last summer.

Throughout her music career, Gomez has released six albums, with her last one coming out in 2020. However, in recent years, she has leaned more toward acting. She starred in Hulu’s hit series Only Murders in the Building and most recently appeared in the musical crime thriller Amelia Perez.
When discussing why acting appeals to her more than singing, Gomez said, “It can be a little vulnerable when you’re putting yourself out there [in music] versus escaping into a character. I wouldn’t want someone to dissect my performance and say, ‘Oh, that’s who she is.’ I would rather hear, ‘Wow, she’s a different person.’ That’s something I love about acting.”

The Texas-born star, now 32, reflected on aging out of her “pop star era.” She revealed, “My favorite songs are mostly ballads, and they’re very transparent and honest. I feel comfortable in that zone. I think I might be a little too old for the pop star life now.”
While Gomez may be moving on from her music career, she expressed excitement for the future. “I’m genuinely so happy to just be in this new era. It feels like, in a way, it’s just the beginning for me, and I’m so excited to see what’s to come.”
