Officials announced on Sunday, August 25, 2024, that Sanjay Roy, the primary culprit in the alleged rape (Doctor’s rape-murder in Kolkata) and murder of a trainee doctor at R.G. Kar Medical College, is undergoing a lie-detecting test at Kolkata’s Presidency Jail.

Two more individuals are scheduled to undergo the polygraph test today at the CBI office in Kolkata. On Saturday, four people, including former principal Sandip Ghosh, underwent the polygraph test, as per sources for Doctor’s rape-murder in Kolkata.
Lie Detector Test at Presidency Jail | CBI’s Polygraph Test Strategy
The CBI has requested permission from the court to conduct a lie detector test on seven individuals, including Roy and Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of the medical college. The results of the test will guide the agency’s future investigation, but they cannot be used as evidence in court.
The tests are being conducted by a team of polygraph experts who were brought to Kolkata from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Delhi.
Role of Sanjay Roy in the Investigation
The accused, who is a professional boxer, is said to have developed close relationships with several senior police officers throughout his career. He was stationed at the police outpost at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital and later transferred to the Kolkata Police Welfare Board.
“He has denied the accusations made against him.”
