India enjoyed a successful outing on day three of the 2024 Paris Paralympics, ending the day India has bagged five medals: one gold, one silver, and three bronze.
Avani Lekhara, who set a world record in the women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1 shooting event, successfully defended her title and became the first Indian woman to win two gold medals at the Paralympics.
Mona Agarwal, meanwhile, took home the bronze. This became the first time ever that India had two podium finishes in a single Paralympic Games competition. Bronze went to Rubina Francis as well.
Following her podium appearance, Rubina stated, “I’m thrilled. I want to encourage everyone to put their all into everything they do. Have confidence in yourself and follow your desires.”
Avani, meanwhile, exclaimed, “I’m happy, it feels nice.” Being awarded a medal for my nation makes me pleased. I’m grateful to my parents, my nation, my coaches, and my squad.”
Paraarcher without arms Before placing second in her event, Sheetal Devi momentarily held the world record score in the ranking round.
A world record score was later achieved by Rakesh Kumar and Sheetal in a compound mixed-team qualification event.
