Indian Opener Prithvi Shaw Faces Criticism About IPL Auctions Snub: The former under-19 captain Prithvi Shaw, foreseen to be the next big thing in Indian cricket, is currently struggling. The young man who took India to the under-19 World Cup victory in 2018 has not been able to earn himself a place in India’s team in the last few years. With a base price of Rs 75 lakh at the 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, he could not find any takers for himself in the IPL.
Shaw will not be part of it initially since the 2018 IPL season. Once supported as one of the most promising new-generation players, Shaw has now tumbled out of favor with both IPL franchisees and selectors of the national team. They say that his action was worthless, he was incapable, and his behavior was unsportsmanlike, which has earned criticism from former Indian cricketers on air and specialists.

As a former India selector, cricketer, and somebody who has carefully monitored Shaw said, ‘On his way to becoming a cricketer, Shaw was given probabilities to be around cricket icons like Rahul Dravid, Ricky Ponting, Sourav Ganguly, and Sachin Tendulkar, and still, he doesn’t show any improvements.’ That is why the selector questioned whether such legends were incorrect in advising him, pointing out that it is still unclear whether Shaw can progress despite the orders of such outstanding cricketers. After getting the IPL snub, Shaw now stands at a vital junction in his young career.
He has lost the same desire for raw talent, but there is a rising outlook that he could be a more committed fit. The Mumbai Cricket Association had accepted him from the Ranji Trophy for being unfit but again included him in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. With the forthcoming given to him, Shaw needs to start performing and transforming the course, and time is off his side.
