AAP Leader Jain Gets Bail After 2 Years In Money Laundering Case. Satyendar Jain, the former Delhi Health Minister and senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has been granted bail after spending nearly two years in judicial custody.

The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi issued the bail on October 18, 2024, in connection with a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) involving allegations of laundering money through four companies linked to him.

The judge remarked, “Considering the delay in trial and incarceration, the accused is favorably suited for the relief.

The judge granted the relief on a bail bond of Rs 50,000 with two sureties of the same amount.

The CBI’s FIR, filed in 2017, under the Prevention of Corruption Act, was arrested Jain on May 30, 2022, by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

ED had rejected Jain’s bail request; they claimed that because of political connections, he could convince witnesses. However, the court did not accept this argument, emphasizing that the trial had not yet commenced and would likely take considerable time to conclude.

The Court Imposed Several Conditions for Jain’s Bail:

i). He is prohibited from leaving the country,
ii). Contacting individuals associated with the case or influencing any aspect of the trial.

“These measures are standard in such cases to ensure compliance with judicial proceedings.

This ruling comes after a previous denial of bail in March 2024, highlighting a shift in judicial consideration following recent Supreme Court judgments regarding the right to a speedy trial. The court’s acknowledgment of Jain’s prolonged detention reflects an evolving legal landscape concerning PMLA cases and individual liberties.

“Welcome back Satyendar,” Mr Kejriwal said

“Satyendra Jain also got bail after spending more than two years in jail. What was his fault? His place was raided many times. Not even a penny was found.

His only fault was that he built mohalla clinics and made the entire treatment free for all the people of Delhi. Modi ji put him in jail to close the mohalla clinics and stop free treatment of the poor.

But God is with us. Today he too has been released.

Welcome back, Satyendra!”
