Atul Kumar Could Not Get Admission Even After Passing the IIT Exam | The Village Raised Money For Fees.

Highlights:

Atul Kumar belongs to Titora village, a small village in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh and he belongs to a low-income family. Atul passed a difficult exam like IIT, but poverty hindered his path.

Atul took the exam with hard work and keeping all the situations aside, but destiny is yet to come. In Titora, Atul’s victory, his disappointment, and the ray of hope given by the Supreme Court are being discussed everywhere

The Supreme Court bench handled Chief Justice DY Chandrachud Atul’s petition on Tuesday. Coming from a below-poverty-line family, Atul’s dream of getting admission to IIT-ISM Dhanbad was almost over due to missing the deadline for paying the fees.

Why was Atul unable to pay the fees?

Due to a technical glitch, Atul could not pay the acceptance fee of Rs 17,500 on time, and his seat was canceled. Atul approached the Supreme Court regarding this. The Supreme Court showed sympathy towards this brilliant student and sought a reply from the Joint Seat Allocation Authority and IIT-Madras. During the hearing on the petition, the Chief Justice promised that we would help you as much as possible.

What work do the parents do?

Atul’s father, Rajendra Kumar (47), works as a laborer in a textile factory in Meerut. His mother Rajesh Devi (45), works in the fields and makes cots. Atul’s brothers have achieved tremendous academic success. Atul’s elder brother Mohit Kumar, 24, did his MTech from NIT Hamirpur. Rohit Kumar, 23, did his BTech from IIT-Kharagpur. Amit, 20, is in college and doing well. He wants to go abroad for higher education. Mother Rajesh says she wants to educate her four sons, no matter the cost.

The court has given hope.

For Atul, the Supreme Court’s promise is like a second chance. Atul says we know what we have gone through. I have to do this for my parents. I am waiting to repay Rs 3 lakh. This amount was taken on loan by my father to help us study.

Village people helped

Pawan Kumar, who offered Rs 10,000 to help with the fees, says the entire village testifies that despite their financial struggle, education has always been their priority. We are sure Atul and Amit will go on to become great like their elder siblings.

Atul’s teacher at the local school, Rajkumar Motala, called him a ray of hope. He said that he has made us all proud. His story proved that talent exists everywhere, even in the poorest sections of society. He further said that we are all praying for him. Just wait and watch; God will surely listen.
